About me: Hillary West, and the Wild Growth Field in New Lowell, ON
Hi, it’s me!
I’m Hillary, and if you would have told me 20 years ago that I’d be a family and brand photographer, helping support my family with my passion, I would have been SO stoked! Ever since I was handed a camera at 15 years old, it’s been a true creative outlet for me. The fact that I get to support my family, by capturing really important memories for other families…it’s pretty amazing guys! When another mama tells me my photos brought her to tears, well, it gets me going a little bit too. Thank you to everyone who has trusted me in the past 4 years to create lasting memories of their loved ones, I’m truly honored and humbled by the task.
A lot of my clients and referrals come from either Barrie or Collingwood, but I know there are so many more great families to meet right here in the local small towns of New Lowell, Creemore, Angus and Wasaga Beach! So, today I wanted to show off the Wild Growth Field mini session location (right here in New Lowell!) that I’ve been promoting this year, and share a little more about myself and my family!
These were taken last year, so we now have a 4 year old and a 15 month old! My daughter is so busy these days and really enjoying exploring in nature with her new walking skills! And my son, uuummm, he's ready for Kindergarten? He's ready! (January babies, right?) I’ve been home with them since March 2020 (wun wuhhnn), but they just started daycare a couple months ago, so I’m REALLY excited to be able to devote more time and energy into my little business now!
We’ve also got this pretty rad dog! We adopted her when we were still living in Nelson, BC. She’s a mix of Border Collie, Lab, and Belgian Malinois…yeah, she’s a lot! She’s a nervous dog, but we’re so happy that she’s been able to relax quite a bit more since we moved back to Ontario in 2016! Moving from a street with a lot of foot traffic, to country living, seems to be exactly what she needed.
This wild growth field is super close to our home, and I’ve been taking my son for adventures here since before he could walk! There are little pockets of almost every kind of wild flower, wild berries, and even alder and pine saplings! I can’t wait to share this awesome location with you this year during my summer mini session in August!
