it's all about the vibes.
There have been many times in my life where places, people, and especially getting people together IN a special place creates a sparkly magic that I can feel in my soul.
Real, good stuff.
Is it a stretch to call vibes/energy ‘real’? For me, it doesn’t get more real than energy! I am extremely empathetic and sensitive to energy around me. When I feel good vibes, you’d best believe I’m magnetically drawn in. And it happens again and again at Moondance Organic Gardens!
When Farmer Kim asked me to come out to photograph the Fall Market at hers and Tom’s Moondance Organics Gardens, of course it was a yes! Moondance Farm has been an amazing place for myself and my kids in the last year. Anything I can do to show my gratitude to the Farm and those who keep it is definitely high on my priority list!
I arrived and had a great little chat with Amanda, who I met last year when she was teaching the Wildlings program that my son was attending. She’s now helping organize events for the Farm this year - she’s your go-to if you’re looking for a wonderful outdoor venue for a workshop or event!
As I settled into the flow of making my market rounds, I bumped into Becky who is the beautiful soul that created and runs Rewilding Education - Farm & Forest School! I can’t say enough good things about Rewilding, that’s a future blog post in itself!
Next, I came upon the Ontario Farmland Trust! They are working to protect Farms like Moondance. I was excited to learn that Moondance is actually the first farm they are working to get protected that is also home to a Farm & Forest School! This is a wonderful conservation effort to ensure that such valuable land to our community remains protected and accessible now and for future generations!
After that I chatted with Kaelynn Williams, a very local beekeeper and honey producer - her honey was literally created just down the road from Moondance! Moon Flour Cafe had lots of yummy baked goods and essential coffee for all! Olive & Kat Designs sent Dad out to help with their market - they sell beautiful creations made with healing stones and lots of positive love and energy! River Lily Gemstone Jewellery also had a lovely display of handmade pieces.
Essa Public Library was also there promoting their kids programs. I noticed they had a tiny crock pot on display…when I asked why, I learned that the library actually has lots of kitchen gear to lend out! What can’t you get at the library?!
Art By Ki was also in attendance, as well as this family proudly wearing their birds on their backs. Yup!
here comes my favourite part...
When I’m doing what I love, I get a little sparkly. There is a magic about it, capturing someone’s uniqueness in a single moment.
My favourite part of the day was popping into the forest to see what magic I could find for the Rewilding Education Open House. After having some lovely chats with parents and grandparents visiting the farm, I settled into one of their many hammocks for a quick rest and recalibration.
I noticed another Mama in the hammock next to mine snuggling with her youngest, and captured these adorable moments of them. Next, older sisters wanted to get in on the photography action and ‘put it on’ with hide and surprise games in the hammocks! I love how they turned out!
